就目前的網(wǎng)絡(luò)語言而言，其產(chǎn)生的方式主要有:

1.漢語拼音縮略語

這類網(wǎng)絡(luò)詞語是網(wǎng)民為了交流的方便，把網(wǎng)絡(luò)聊天、論壇中常用的詞語中的每個字的漢語拼音字母組合起來形成的縮略語，最常用的如CG、JJ、D【)、MM等等，分別表示哥哥、姐姐、弟弟、妹妹等，PLMM則代表了漂亮妹妹，PMP是拍馬尼，N口歸表示你去死，至于TM心、TNNI〕、NB、SB等國罵和京罵，就不再一一贊述了。

2.英語縮略語

隨著ICQ(網(wǎng)絡(luò)尋呼機)的普及，不同國家的網(wǎng)民可以通過網(wǎng)絡(luò)自由交流，由英語產(chǎn)生的縮略語也時興起來，幾乎是網(wǎng)絡(luò)交流中的“世界語”。BTv是“場t抽way(順便說一句)”的縮略語汗認CO是“抽祀agxxl嵌.(祝過得愉快)"的縮略語，扭‘認膠是“ha，ha，耐y拓ding(開個玩笑罷了)”的縮略語。在表示對某個玩笑或幽默的欣賞時，常常會用到ROFL，是“笑得在地上打滾(加翻吃。the習(xí)oorla明‘刀g)”的意思。TLA(先謝了，t垃回ksinad~)、yH了1，(你上當(dāng)了，y以1haveb戈nt心】司)和Yl幾(你精了，卿抽犯詠)更是在ICQ中頻頻使用。與人道別時，可以打一個“?！?，按英語字母的發(fā)音讀出來就是，y以.，PLZ是Pl~(請求)的縮寫，UR就是，漢Jare的縮寫。

3.諧音詞語

這類詞語是根據(jù)網(wǎng)絡(luò)中一些常用詞語的諧音演化并固定下來的，其中有的是漢語詞語的諧音，如“班竹”是“版主”的諧音，就是BBS論壇的管理維護者，“竹頁”是網(wǎng)站的主頁，“霉男”“霉女”在網(wǎng)絡(luò)中則表示俊男和美女，有的是英語的音譯，如“伊妹兒”(E一n儷1)、“瘟酒吧”(wi以fo明夕8)、“瘟酒屋”(Win由w95)等等。

4.新興詞語

網(wǎng)絡(luò)為大眾提供了聊天室、BBS等新的交流方式，這類詞語就是伴隨著這些交流方式派生出來的。如“灌水”“造磚”“拍磚”“東東”“樓上”“樓下”“壇子”等都是常見的，而且是利用比喻的手法產(chǎn)生的，用的是這些詞的新的比喻義?！肮嗨毙稳莶回撡F任地亂發(fā)帖子，“造磚”則是認真地寫一些有深度的文章，如果在某論壇上大家持不同意見，自然要引起爭論，而這種爭論就叫做“拍磚”。這些貼出來的文章叫做“東東”，“東東”也可以泛指一切東西?！皦印笔侵刚搲诿恳粋€“壇子”里，上下兩個帖子之間的關(guān)系被稱作“樓上”“樓下”，這些詞的比喻義使網(wǎng)絡(luò)語言形象生動，收到了意想不到的表達效果。

5.數(shù)字語言

這類語言在聊天室以及oICQ中經(jīng)常用到，以簡潔的數(shù)字表示發(fā)言者的思想。886和88最常用，表示“再見”“拜拜了”，傷心的時侯可以用55555來表示，用漢語的發(fā)音“wuwuwuwu，，表示傷心地哭。7456(氣死我T)、9494(就是就是)、562059487(我若愛你，我就是白癡)等，都是利用阿拉伯?dāng)?shù)字在漢語的讀音表示讀音相同或相近的詞語。有的是利用這些數(shù)字在英語中的讀音構(gòu)成，如，’4U’’’代表“for卿”。

6.符號語言

網(wǎng)絡(luò)交流時交流的雙方都無法看到對方，網(wǎng)民便用各種抽象化的符號來表示自己的感情。如:“:一)”或“:)”是最普通的笑臉或表示微笑，很多網(wǎng)蟲每次發(fā)言時都會帶上這個符號，表示此時此刻他正微笑著和你聊天，“:一D’，表示非常高興地張嘴大笑，而“:(”或“:一(”則表示生氣。“一~”代表丘比特神箭，不失為向意中人表露心跡的好辦法。這樣的符號在網(wǎng)絡(luò)中有很多，種種抽象的符號成了表達情感的最直接的輔助方式，使枯燥的網(wǎng)絡(luò)語言有了活力，變得生動起來。網(wǎng)絡(luò)語言雖然主要是以其傳播媒介來命名的，但是正如其他語言樣式并不僅僅決定于其呈現(xiàn)方式一樣，網(wǎng)絡(luò)語言的特殊性不僅體現(xiàn)于獨特的載體，更決定于它獨特的語言特點。網(wǎng)絡(luò)平臺賦予的虛擬即時交流性、開放性、自由性，決定了網(wǎng)絡(luò)語言具有不同于其他領(lǐng)域使用的語言，網(wǎng)上交流具有快捷性、視覺性強、時效性強的特色，網(wǎng)絡(luò)語言也要與此相適應(yīng)。

因此，網(wǎng)絡(luò)語言既不同于口語，亦不同于一般的書面語，在文字、詞語和語法方面都形成了自己的特色。詞語方面主要表現(xiàn)為:外來詞語增多，縮略語增多，新詞多，口語詞多，大量使用同音詞，構(gòu)詞方式簡單化，詞語能簡則簡，能省則省，使得網(wǎng)上使用的詞語呈現(xiàn)出簡、雜、亂、新的局面。在文字的使用方面，由于用電腦輸出文字，不會出現(xiàn)錯字，別字數(shù)量卻大大增加，漢字中夾雜著字母、數(shù)字，標點符號的使用也不太講究，因此，和一般書面文字相比，網(wǎng)絡(luò)文字規(guī)范化程度要偏低，有意無意出現(xiàn)的同音字、近音字已經(jīng)是見怪不怪的現(xiàn)象，有些甚至還成了固定的表達，如以“偶”代“我”、以“樂”代“了”、以“那”代“哪”已成為一種趨向。語法方面，網(wǎng)絡(luò)語言極力掙稅漢語語法規(guī)則的束縛，超常搭配、詞類活用都大大超過一般的書面語言，還出現(xiàn)一些漢語和英語的“混血兒”格式，“我天才吧?！薄癚我?！薄耙话惆恪！薄霸囈幌孪?。”“難過死掉了。”之類的句子在網(wǎng)上是非常平常的。

至于網(wǎng)絡(luò)語言的產(chǎn)生，不外乎以下幾個方面的原因。首先，是由網(wǎng)絡(luò)交際的特點決定的。網(wǎng)絡(luò)交際是虛擬的，交際的雙方誰也不認識誰，怎樣說.說什么，都沒有約束，于是不需要認真，不需要嚴肅，不需要尊重和禮貌，平常意義上的“交際原則”“會話原則”在網(wǎng)絡(luò)交際中都不需要，使得許多網(wǎng)絡(luò)詞語是基于游戲心態(tài)創(chuàng)造出來的，其次網(wǎng)絡(luò)交際不同于面對面的“嘴巴”交際那么隨意，用文字傳遞信息的速度也與傳統(tǒng)的面對面的口頭聊天無法相比，再加上這種交際是需要交際人付費的，為了快捷、省錢，在有限的時間和金錢的限制下，不少人喜歡用拼音輸入系統(tǒng)，為了自己的高速度，就顧及不了詞語的準確性了，往往大都用同音詞代替原詞，用數(shù)字、符號代替復(fù)雜的詞句，大量的字母簡稱也是圖方便。另外網(wǎng)絡(luò)交際也缺乏面對面交際時經(jīng)常借助的語氣、語調(diào)及表情和體態(tài)來傳情達意，人們就想象出各種各樣的符號來增強形象感。當(dāng)然也和網(wǎng)民特別是青少年求新、求奇的心理有關(guān)。網(wǎng)絡(luò)交際的雙方多為年輕人，他們熟悉漢語拼音，有一定的英語基礎(chǔ)，接受新事物比較快，網(wǎng)絡(luò)新詞讓他們感到新鮮、刺激、有趣，有一種求新求變、不斷突破陳規(guī)的潮流感，大家都來造新詞，特別有成就感。
