New ideas, new information, new technologies. People can talk with each other from any corner of the earth in a matter of seconds. Society is becoming more competitive.
Words like inpiduality and creativity are getting more emphasis and more people are rewarded for their hard work and efforts. Such is the era in which this generation ,grows and matures.
Such is the era in which this generation will take over the nation from our fathers and learn to run it. Yet in the meantime, many problems still exist.
We learn that crimes take place in broad daylight with crowds of people looking on and not assisting. We hear that there are still about 1 million children in this country who can't even afford to go to elementary schools while enormous sums of money are being squandered away on dinner parties and luxury cars.
We buy shoddy medicines, or merely worthlejunk in the name of medicines, that aggravate, rather than alleviate our diseases since money, many people believe, is the most important thing in the world that must be made, even at the expense of morality and responsibility.
Such an era, therefore, determines that we are a generation with a keener sense of competition and efficiency and a greater readineto think critically and act creatively.

Standing here now, I think of the past 15 years of my life as an ordinary student. Probably I'll be an ordinary man for the rest of my life. But this doesn't discourage me any, for I know that with my sense of responsibility and devoted efforts to always strive, for the best, it's going to be a meaningful and worthwhile life that I will be living.
Standing here now, I think of the past 15 years of this nation, which has achieved greatnethat inspired millions of people of my age, most of whom will not attain fame or prestige and only a few of whom will be remembered by posterity. if there’s a win-win coexistence of persity rather than just the cruel “Survival-of-the-fittest” elimination that results in a world of monotonous unity.
My hometown is Dalian, and my university is in Shenyang. The changes that are taking place in both cosmopolitans are breathtaking. International conglomerates, BMW, G.E. are hiring the finest of the younger generation, while Starbucks, Haagen-Dazs, and McDonald’s are competing aggressively with local brands. As we immerse ourselves so happily in the international convenience, traditional brands and ways of life are withering in the jungle law of the commercial society. One lifestyle and another lifestyle does not always mean two lifestyles will simultaneously survive.
When foreigners come to China and see the same image of streets as in their own country, they feel more baffled than excited. YES, globalization brings international consumer goods and services, yet, such convenience shouldn’t be at the price of losing the Chinese ingredient in the recipe of global persity. And when Starbucks opened a shop in the Forbidden City in Beijing, the emperor turned over in his grave.
It is, without a shadow of a doubt, the job of the younger generation to make sure things will only be better off for China and the world. With a leap of faith, I came to a decision half a year ago. So, I set my mind on overseas education. Such a decision was not to pursue a blind pilgrimage of Western culture, but to provide my self a new perspective, a catalyst for personal growth as I integrate wisdom and experience of both worlds to become truly international. As I celebrate Chinese culture with the rest of the world, one education AND one education trigger development that can’t be measured with a number, two.
The world is evolving. The only thing not changing is change itself. Yet however fast the world changes, the essence remains the same. It is our responsibility, NO, our obligation as young people, (which ever country we’re from,) to make sure that when worlds come together, our respective characteristics are kept while new traditions are formed in the process. Hand in hand, I’m more than confident that we CAN offer future generations a world of unprecedented harmony and persity.

in my 18 years of life, there have been many things. university days are the best part of them. i can never forget the days when i stepped into my university. i was impressed by its garden-like campus, its enthusiastic students and especially its learning atmosphere. i at once fell in love with it.
after the arduous military training, i get absolutely absorbed in my studies. the classes given by the teachers are excellent. they provide us with information not only from our textbooks but from many other sources as well. they easily arouse my insatiable desire to take in as much as i can.
frankly speaking, at first i had some difficulty following the teachers. however, through my own efforts and thanks to my teachers' guidance, i made remarkable progress. now i've benefited a lot from lectures and many other academic reports.
learning is a long process; i'll keep exploring in the treasure house of knowledge to enrich myself. this summer i got out of the ivory tower and entered the real world. a publishing house offered me a part-time job in compilation and revision.
at the beginning i was belittled by my colleagues. but they were really surprised when i translated seven english articles over 5,000 words on only one day. gradually, they began to look at me with respectful eyes. in their opinion i turned out to be a useful and trustworthy colleague.
i also realize that only those who bring happiness for others can be truly happy. so i often take part in activities concerning public welfare. i once went to a barren mountain village with my classmates. we taught the kids there who could not afford school. while showing them how broad and how civilized the outer world is, i was deeply touched by their eagerness to learn, their honesty and their purity. i couldn't control my tears on the day when we left. the precious experience with the poor kids made me aware of the responsibility on the shoulders of us, future teachers.
besides study and social practice, there are entertainments as well. i do body building every day, hoping to keep healthy and energetic. we also write a play and put it on in our spare time.
campus life is the most splendid time. but different people have different choices. the majority of students cherish their beautiful season and cherish the hope that one day they'll become outstanding. but there are indeed some students still under ignorance. they gather together for eating, drinking or playing cards. they're busy in searching for a girlfriend or a boyfriend. they forget completely about their mission as college students and the hope of their motherland.
finally, i do hope everybody can try their best to become a worthy citizen of the country. i do hope everybody can become the backbone of our nation and make great contributions to society!

change is what keeps us fresh,change is what keeps us young,change is what keeps us from getting stale and stuck in a rut. i’d like to share a famous saying of gandhi with all of you,what is, if you want to change the world, then you must change yourself first. actually, we cannot change the past, but we can change the present, we cannot change the fact, but we can change our manner, we cannot change the weather, but we can change our mood, we cannot change life’s length, but we can change life’s width. never complain that life is boring and the world is disappointing. if you don’t like the taste of your life, just change the ingredients.
time files! only once can we live. if you don’t want to leave any regret. let’s start right now to make a change. we must realize that it is never too late to begin making changes that can change our life. the moral to it is to change what you see and don’t like. don’t just sit there and think of how sad the place is. make a change for the better. don’t wait for the right time. there isn’t one.there is never a perfect time.just time. today always beats tomorrow. today is the only day we have. tomorrow is only a promise and may never come. dream for tomorrow but live for today. make your changes and do it now. life makes no guarantees as to what you’ll have. it just give you time to make changes, and to take chances, and to discover what secrets might come your way. it is an honor to stand here and have this chance to say that we are the ones who can make a change and let a brighter day come.

ladies and gentlemen,good evening!i fell really honored to stand here and make a speech about my college life.
now collegelife has been about more than a half, i begin to understand that college is a large stage, what belongs to your own; here you are both director and actor, if you dare to try, then the spotlight will call to you all. and what you have to do is try your best to play your role, whatever happens, believe yourself, that's right! when sophomore, is mainly for learning, without fresh at the beginning, holding the muddled attitudes of life and learning. now recalling the university life of freshman: classes, dinners, rest filled up my daily life, i am busy and i think i tried to make my life colorful ,however, i got no achievement to show off,i don’t know what i was busy with. people always like dream, but the dream is broken again and again when there is no plan to make it come true. so it is the most important to have a plan for your university life, although it need not to be very detailed, it can let you have the target to pursue.
some say mediocre students are similar, not mediocre students each have their own glory. although i don't think my life is brilliant, and failure of comparison but i'm glad i gain much more than i lost. every one of us dreams of the university halls, in order to come to the palace we experience hardships. now that we have crossed the threshold, so we have a lot of personality in the halls of this dream. college is not a fantasy, not a dream, and certainly not delusional, but our great ideal. as long as we are fighting for. some day we will achieve everything! you will hear maple stream boat, you will see kim laughs, and you'll smell the fruit fragrance, because you have been in the harvest season!

一、增強學生英語演講表達技能意識

in my opinion,a harmonious campus is firstly an academic campus where the students are eager to learn ,the professors are dilligent to do researches and instruct knowledges.of course,a dense cultural atmosphere can be very benificial.
secondly,the relationship among teachers and students is harmonious.former high school teachers were tough with us while our college instructors are very benign and friendly.besides learning from them,we can also consult them about daily trouble and matters we confront.with their help,we open our minds to new appraoches and enlarge our insight.
thirdly,a harmonious relationship among schoolmates can be helpful as well. each student should not only show their individuality but slao display their unity.for instance,when studying in the library,we'r supposed to keep quiet in order not to disturb others.when we'r finishd with our meals,we should clean up the tables. also a close relation amid roomates can make us feel home.esp. in china ,six or four students come from different parts with different daily habits have to share the same dorm.so it is crucial to build a harmonious dormitory by keeping/setting up the same routine schedual.

An Unforgettable Challenge
When I was ten years old, I began to chat with foreigners. But I was very shy. Gradually, I became more and more confident with foreigners’ help. The following year, I went to Yangzhou with two foreigners. I became their guide. First, we came into the Shouxi River. They wanted to look around the river by boat. I told them the price. Then we got into the boat. When we looked out at the sight, we all felt very beautiful. After that, they went to buy souvenirs. The sellers couldn’t speak English. Though it was very hard, I tried my best to listen to their words carefully and translate the sentences. They bought some souvenirs with my help. Next, we went to a small zoo, and we took some photos. There were not many animals. When we felt hungry, we went out and had lunch. After lunch, we visited some old houses. They learned more about Chinese history.
This wasn’t only a big challenge but also an unforgettable challenge. This opportunity made me confident and brave. I hope I can catch many opportunities in the future, then I can speak English, because I think practice makes perfect.

二、大學生的英語演講能力的現(xiàn)狀
(一)心理素質(zhì)不佳
在當代大學生中,用母語在公眾場合發(fā)表觀點已屬不易,何況是用外語去表達自己的思想觀點并與觀眾互動。目前大學生存在一下這些心理素質(zhì)問題:演講者在創(chuàng)作的心理素質(zhì)上較差,沒有很好的運用聯(lián)想與想象來創(chuàng)作,以至于演講稿缺乏邏輯性,不夠生動有吸引力。演講者在表達的心理素質(zhì)上體現(xiàn)的問題。許多學生由于演講的經(jīng)驗不足,加上對自己英語水平缺乏自信心,在演講比賽之前就坐立不安。很多同學賽前已準備充分,但一到最后關(guān)頭,頭腦一片空白,這便是心理素質(zhì)差的一大表現(xiàn)。因為這些,演講者一直處于心理緊張狀態(tài),導(dǎo)致演講創(chuàng)作稿不成功,練習演講時會想到自己登臺時的緊張,以至于練習不到位,最終導(dǎo)致演講不成功。

2006年10月14 第五屆“CCTV杯”全國英語演講大賽擔任評委的十余名英語教學專家認為,高校參賽大學生整體英語演講水平較高,但知識面和綜合素質(zhì)卻仍有待提高。在即興演講時,不少大學生分析問題不夠深入,很多學生僅僅是在就事論事,缺乏個人觀點,這暴露了當前大學生們,在知識面和綜合素質(zhì)方面的不足,在現(xiàn)場問答環(huán)節(jié),居然有選手連歐元都不知道。在高水平英語演講中,英語發(fā)音反倒不是影響演講水準的因素,知識面窄成了我國大學生普遍的弱點,在對我院大學生知識獲取途徑的調(diào)查中,67.13%的學生主要閱讀的是教科書和考試書籍,許多學生只學習本專業(yè)知識而無心旁顧社會、歷史、哲學封學科知識,甚至不看報刊雜志,更不要說英語報刊雜志了。狹窄的知識面導(dǎo)致演講內(nèi)容匱乏,引用的事例都比較陳舊,不能引人入勝,在英語演講時尤其體現(xiàn)在對論題的分析和切入思考不夠。而這一“短板”也嚴重影響到我國大學生演講能力。因此在大學生英語演講能力拓展提升中,拓寬當代大學生知識面刻不容緩。
(三)演講的訓(xùn)練和鍛煉的缺乏
隨著經(jīng)濟全球化的發(fā)展,外語教學的不斷改進,英語學科變得越來越重要,當然,英語演講方面的比賽也是多之有多。這也就不難發(fā)現(xiàn)一個問題,有諸多選手多年連續(xù)參加比賽,雖然這并不違反比賽規(guī)則,且作為高校,當然有自己的理由推選這樣的選手參加比賽。然而,這無疑從側(cè)面反映了許多問題,學校缺乏具備演講才能的選手,后備力量不足,忽略了對其他學生在演講方面的培養(yǎng),而只針對部分有經(jīng)驗的學生進行培訓(xùn),從而違背了舉辦演講比賽的初衷。學校缺乏對學生的訓(xùn)練在演講方面固然是個缺陷,但除此之外,關(guān)于提高演講能力的報告會也是少之又少,很少有關(guān)于演講的報告會為沒有沒有經(jīng)驗但渴望演講的學生提供經(jīng)驗指導(dǎo)及專業(yè)訓(xùn)練,相關(guān)于此的書籍和視頻種類也并不全面,無法滿足所有學生的需求。無論是即興演講還是非即興演講,對大學生在演講方面的訓(xùn)練和培養(yǎng)是不可缺少的,它與大學生的英語綜合能力,心理素質(zhì),知識面,思辨能力是相輔相成的,故應(yīng)給予更多的重視。
(四)英語的綜合基礎(chǔ)薄弱
英語演講能力并非是簡單的口語會話能力,而是一種綜合了語言知識技能、臨場應(yīng)變能力、恰當表達能力等各種要求的綜合能力與素質(zhì)。而對于當代大學生來說,相對于其他諸如心理素質(zhì)、思辨能力等,這種綜合能力中的知識儲備方面往往是其較大的短板。首先,針對于非母語專業(yè)的學生來說,英語作為第二語言,在生活中的應(yīng)用注定無法像母語一樣廣泛,缺少了所需要的語言環(huán)境,即使是在詞匯量上可以達到較高的水平,也會因為缺少實際應(yīng)用而是表達停留在一個比較基礎(chǔ)的層次。同樣,由于身邊沒有一個英語環(huán)境,對于語音的影響也是十分巨大的,大學生們往往只能根據(jù)老師、錄音、視頻等方式被動的接受英語的語音,真正與使用英語為第一語言的人的交流機會十分缺少,這也造成了口語水平的薄弱。歸根結(jié)底是在日常的生活中真正的英語“輸入”太少,這才是直接導(dǎo)致“輸出”有問題的主要原因。其次,大學生所接觸的英語在詞匯上往往是比較通用的標準意義,對引申義、俚語等的了解較少,這會使得在進行英語交流、演講時,雖然用詞用句十分標準卻不地道,缺少一種親和感。再次便是對英語國家的文化背景的了解。每個國家、地區(qū)都有自己的獨特文化、習俗、傳統(tǒng)等,就如同說話的口音一般,對于大學生來說了解這些文化背景的機會太少,對它的關(guān)注也十分有限,往往被人們所忽視。試問如果對這些文化都不甚了解,又如何能夠做出符合英式或者美式思維的英語演講呢?
(五)思辨能力的不足
思辨能力就是思考辨析能力。所謂思考指的是分析、推理、判斷等思維活動;所謂辨析指的是對事物的情況、類別、事理等的辨別分析。思辨能力首先是一種抽象思維能力。簡要地說,層次分明、條理清楚的分析,清楚準確、明白有力的說理,就是思辨能力的主要特征。成功的英語演講需要演講者對主題有深刻的認識與理解, 是否能準確的的將自己的想法清晰地傳遞給聽眾;同時要有明確的思路與條理,做到主次分明詳略得當;根據(jù)相關(guān)資料,選取合理科學的論證結(jié)合自身的理解,對主題進行剖析、拓展,有條理、有層次、有中心、有重點并連貫的表明自己的觀點;做到從不同角度有深度有廣度的對問題進行分析與總結(jié)。
對于大部分語言類學生的學生來說,英語演講往往存在以下幾個問題:首先在使用英語演講時均會不同程度的受到母語或其他語種的影響而不能準確的表達出自己的想法,從而不能將思辨能力發(fā)揮到最好。其次,大部分學生的想象能力較強,比較善于人文類思辨模式,而分析概括能力較弱,因此在表達上善于敘事而非說理議論。雖然外語專業(yè)學生的記憶力受到了鍛煉,但其邏輯思維能力和思辨能力卻無形中被削弱了;同時,學生無暇顧及對其他方面知識的吸收,以至于外語學習者普遍知識面窄、思考能力差,無法從多種知識中的交融中,產(chǎn)生創(chuàng)造性思維。
三、大學生英語演講能力拓展訓(xùn)練方法
(一)提高學生心理素質(zhì)
1.提高演講者創(chuàng)作上的心理素質(zhì)
在演講創(chuàng)作中需要形象思維和邏輯思想,聯(lián)想與想象。在演講創(chuàng)作中邏輯思維占主導(dǎo)地位,演講創(chuàng)作者要通過自己的創(chuàng)作說明問題,最后展示給人們一個抽象的道理。聯(lián)想和想象對創(chuàng)作起到了重要的作用。有了想象才會創(chuàng)作出豐富多彩的演講稿。因此,想象和聯(lián)想會讓我們的演講創(chuàng)作得到升華。
2.提高演講者表達的心理素質(zhì)
(1)鼓起勇氣登臺克服怯場。古羅馬雄辯家西塞羅曾在一次演講后說,”演講一開始,我就感到自己面色蒼白,四肢和整個心靈都在顫抖”。后來他成為著名的演講家。鼓起勇氣登上舞臺,成功已離你不遠了。
(2)從心理戰(zhàn)術(shù)鼓勵自己登上舞臺,演講者應(yīng)該情緒飽滿的登臺演講,因一定要想法設(shè)法在登臺演講前把自己的情緒調(diào)整到最佳狀態(tài)上,以飽滿的情緒登臺演講。飽滿的情緒可以吸引觀眾,感染觀眾。因此,要調(diào)整好自己的狀態(tài),以積極向上,歡快飽滿的情緒登臺,給觀眾留下美好的第一印象,讓聽眾對你的演講充滿信心。
(3)演講者還需要提高與觀眾溝通的能力。演講是一種雙向交流,是由演講者與聽眾互相配合的活動,所以演講者必須學會與聽眾交流,并隨時注意聽眾的反饋信息,必須根據(jù)這些反饋信息隨時調(diào)整自己的演講內(nèi)容,因為聽眾的反應(yīng)便是聽眾有沒有聽懂并被演講者所吸引的反射,而只有適時并得體的與聽眾互動,你的演講才是成功的。
(4)演講者可以通過生活提高心理素質(zhì),演講者應(yīng)準備充分,一人出聲的念講稿,當達到流暢的如聊天一樣時,再以家里人,朋友,為聽眾練一遍,聽眾的組成由熟人到不太熟,最后以完全陌生人為聽眾,逐漸樹立信心。
(二)增加英語的知識儲備
1.博學
(1)讀書。除了專業(yè)類和個人興趣類,其他類別,比如生物,電子,化學,經(jīng)濟,醫(yī)學,心理,時事等也要廣泛涉獵。先從感興趣的書看起,最好一次性看完,再閱讀下一本。閱讀較之其它方法更系統(tǒng),不僅增加知識面,還可以鍛煉思維。
(2)網(wǎng)絡(luò)搜索。這個時代網(wǎng)絡(luò)發(fā)達。遇到陌生的詞匯和事物,不管是任何領(lǐng)域的,只要稍微感興趣,最好在第一時間去網(wǎng)上搜索,這樣就會對其有大概了解。與此同時,搜索出來的內(nèi)容中又會出現(xiàn)其他的知識點,再挑一些感興趣的去了解。滴水成渠,有較長的時間積累后,你接觸到的知識點,基數(shù)就會比別人大很多。
(3)百科日記。由于有些知識是難以一次性記住,建議建立“百科日記”,即把新接觸又不易記的知識,挑重點記錄下來,俗話好記性不如爛筆頭。如果引擎搜索能幫住人們記住2%左右的知識,那么百科日記可以把這個比例提高到5%左右。
(4)思考。養(yǎng)成勤于思考的習慣,多問自己“為什么”。因為沒有自我的思想,你有再多知識都難以運用。在即興演講中切記不可就事論事,一定要有自己的態(tài)度和觀點,多思考有助于獲得這樣的能力。
2.社交
古語說“獨學而無友,則孤陋而寡聞”。因此,要抱著學習的態(tài)度與人主動交往,在交談中把各自的面重合,潛移默化的從不同人中學習,汲取各自的養(yǎng)分。博觀而約取,厚積而薄發(fā)。擴充知識面是漫長的過程,因此要養(yǎng)成博學與社交的習慣,這樣才能拓寬知識面,并將儲備的知識適當?shù)倪\用在英語演講中。
